The area around and in between London Bridge and Tower Bridge is a fantastic place to call home and experience the best of living in both south and central London. You’re just a train hop across the river from being in the city centre and have a fantastic selection of neighbourhoods to mix in and explore the rest of the time.
The best view in the city can be found just a short walk away from the magnificent and imposing Shard tower. There are a ton of great bars and restaurants to explore within the area just around the base of the Shard itself but, with views like the ones you can find from the Tower’s fantastic bar and restaurant, why not make it your regular place for an evening drink?
There are numerous markets in the area, none more famous perhaps than Borough’s covered market, which is an amazing place to shop for all your fresh groceries each week. However, you’ll find most of the locals leaving their shopping to the weekend, with the fantastic Maltby Street market offering some of the best fresh produce in the whole city!
The closest London Underground station is at Borough, which is a relatively short walk from the apartment although you can also access more tube and standard railway services at London Bridge station, as well as Elephant and Castle.
There are plenty of bus routes around the area, as well as night bus services for those trickier late-night return journeys (there is also a night-time tube service to Borough but it may work out quicker taking the bus depending on where you’re coming back home from!).
Trains from London Bridge station are really good for fast connections to Gatwick airport to the south of the city (average journey time 30-40 minutes). If you’re thinking of driving whilst in the city, you may want to consider that this area of London is within the London Congestion Zone, which means any journeys you make will require you to pay a £15 charge each day to drive around the city.
