The area around Bermondsey is a fantastic place to experience living in South London. Close towards the River Thames and much of the city centre, there are great transport links in the area to help you connect to other parts of the city, with plenty to do in the local area!
Just a short stroll towards the river takes you to the London staples such as The Shard, London and Tower Bridge, whilst running along the river you’ll find fantastic spots to sit in the sun during summer such as the famous Bermondsey Beach.
Speaking of Bermondsey, as a neighbourhood, it doesn’t fall short of colourful places to eat, drink and shop in, with an impressive selection of outdoor markets, although Borough Market by Tower Bridge is a very big draw throughout the week for most people living in the area to pick up fresh groceries and other household items!
The London Underground station at Bermondsey connects to the Jubilee line that runs into the heart of the city. London Bridge station is a major transport hub for the south of the city with connecting trains in and out of the city, as well as across the river and, different Underground routes. London Waterloo is also a short connection away by train for other services south towards Clapham junction and out of the city.
There are good bus routes in the local area that offer a great alternative for travel around the city, particularly when returning home after a long night due to the limited frequency of night tube services in the south of the city. For anyone looking to drive in the area, you’ll find yourself outside of the city’s congestion zone charge but, will still have to pay the £15 fee to drive into the area in the city centre!
The closest airport to the apartment is London Gatwick, easily reached by train from London Bridge station (average journey of 30-40 minutes) which is particularly handy for living in this part of the city.
